Why is SEO, also called search engine optimisation, important in relation to Google?

SEO is about getting users, from Google, to find your website. Content-based SEO (Search Engine Optimisation, SEO) involves optimising your page and the code on the pages with the keywords that your website can/should best be found on in Google.
