Heatwebs are heat network specialists who are improving the way large infrastructure managers monitor and maintain their sites, making them more cost-efficient and, almost more importantly, more sustainable. So much so that the UK government is notably recommending their unique system as part of their nationwide sustainability programme.

The challenge

Heatweb, a well-established company with a strong client base, had relied mainly on referrals until last year. With a new product in hand, they aimed to accelerate growth and outpace competitors. They approached us to optimise their digital content and channels, which included a vast digital estate like customer portals, service tools, and an e-commerce site. Given their ambition, timelines, and budget, they became a leading client of our Total Optimisation service. Total Optimisation is a new approach that drives provable value through agile cycles. It uses live data and digital expertise to improve business performance and customer experience while reducing resource management, analysis, and reporting efforts.

The solution

After some desk research and data analysis to prepare our groundwork (avoid asking any daft questions), we conducted a three-hour face-to-face onboarding session with the main stakeholders. During this session, we fleshed out their company story, current situation and long- and short-term objectives. We also built proto-personas for their known audiences and set key metrics for us to shift. The first sprint included properly setting up tracking for the metrics and focusing on a few main areas that would drive better conversion. These included updates to the navigation, overall feature content design and brand asset improvements, and the Introduction of more CTAs with fewer friction points. All are tested using predictive AI tools ahead of development to ensure the greatest chance of success. This has already delivered results, but a lot more in the pipeline will drive even further value as we continue.

Results and feedback

Our focus on value vs. effort has meant that Heatweb.co.uk is converting 120% more than before, with an uptick of 30% more engaged sessions on the site. More enhancements are in the pipeline, including improvements to their customer portal and digital services with SSO (Single Sign On), the generation of rich-media feature content for key services, upgrades to the shop, and product search. Exiting times, and we look forward to working with Heatweb as the company goes from strength to strength.
