On-page SEO – Optimize your website for better rankings in search engines

Do you want better rankings on Google? Then you need to work with on-page SEO. On-page SEO is about optimizing the elements on your website that directly affect your visibility in search results. Read here about what on-page SEO entails and how Novicell can help you fully leverage on-page SEO in an SEO strategy, so your business can achieve better online results.

What is on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is about optimizing your website to achieve better rankings in search engines like Google. On-page SEO, also known as on-site SEO, refers to the optimization efforts made directly on the site to improve its visibility and ranking in search engine results. It differs from off-page SEO, which includes external factors such as backlinks and social signals, and technical SEO, which focuses on the technical and coding aspects of the site.

Why is on-page SEO important?

On-page SEO is important because it helps search engines better understand and rank your content. When you optimize a page for on-page SEO, you are helping search engines understand what the page is about. For instance, if you have a page about mobile phones, it’s important to use words and phrases related to mobile phones in all the content elements on the page. This includes headings, body text, page title, meta description, images, internal links, etc. This creates a consistent theme for the given page, making it easier for search engines to find and display your page when users search for information about mobile phones. By optimizing your pages for on-page SEO, you improve the chances of your pages appearing higher in search results, increasing visibility and attracting more organic traffic.

Basic areas of optimization in on-page SEO

On-page SEO includes the use of relevant keywords, optimization of page titles, meta descriptions, headings, images, internal link structure, and more. Below, we have described some of the most important on-page elements you should work on.

    Keyword analysis

Before starting your on-page optimization, you need to conduct a thorough keyword analysis. This is because, without it, you won’t know which keywords to optimize your pages for. Keyword analysis identifies business-relevant keywords in your industry. Choosing the right business-relevant keywords is crucial as it ensures that the traffic you attract is relevant and potentially converting. From the pool of keywords, you need to find the most relevant keywords that match the products or services your business offers. Then, you need to determine which pages on your site should rank for – and be optimized for – which keywords.

    Page titles

A page’s title is the short, clickable headline that appears in the search engine results list. Page titles, or title tags, are one of the most important on-page SEO factors as they inform both users and search engines about what a given page is about. They play a significant role in the page’s ranking in search engines, as the information in them is used by search engines to rank the page. Therefore, it is crucial to include the primary keyword the page should rank for in its title tag. By optimizing page titles, you can also improve the click-through rate (CTR) from search engines, as a well-crafted and well-formulated page title attracts more clicks and increases your page’s visibility and traffic.

    Headings (H1, H2, H3, etc.)

Headings and subheadings are important elements in on-page SEO as they structure the content on your page for both users and search engines to understand. Proper use of headings improves readability and makes it easier for search engines to index and rank your content. By including relevant keywords in your headings, you can further optimize your page’s visibility in search results. Headings follow a hierarchy, where H1 is the first and most important. Then comes H2, H3, H4, H5, etc. It’s good practice to follow the natural hierarchy in your text. Proper use of headings is also important for accessibility and web accessibility on the site.

    Internal links

Internal links are links on your website that lead to other pages on the same domain. They are important for on-page SEO because they help distribute link equity and improve the site’s structure, making it easier for search engines to crawl and index your content. When you link from one of your subpages to another, you’re signaling to search engines that the linked page is a relevant and important page. This helps them understand which pages you want to highlight. It’s important to include primary keywords in the anchor text of your internal links, as this can help achieve better rankings for those keywords.

    Content

The content on your page (the actual text) is a crucial factor for on-page SEO. The quality of the content should be high, relevant, and valuable to users. It’s essential to include primary and secondary keywords naturally in the text while ensuring the content is easy to read and engaging. If your content addresses users’ needs and answers their questions, it increases the likelihood that they will spend more time on the page and interact with it. Regularly updating and adding new, unique content can also enhance your page’s visibility and ranking in search results.

  • Digital Consultancy

    Images

The images on your page should be optimized for on-page SEO. This includes compressing them to improve page load speed and adding alt text to describe the images for better accessibility and SEO. Using descriptive file names and captions with relevant keywords can also enhance your image optimization efforts.
