For the third year in a row, Shopify is named a “Leader” by Gartner

Published on December 9, 2025

Most people in the industry have probably already noticed that Shopify has just been named a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ 2025 for the third year in a row.

More specifically, Gartner now places Shopify highest on the parameter “Ability to Execute.” And that makes sense to us.

Here at Novicell, we work closely with Shopify because we have developed a wide range of solutions on the platform over the years.

Shopify is a major player in the market and has gone through a remarkable evolution:

“The Shopify platform we work with today is almost unrecognisable compared to the one we started using ten years ago. It has expanded into international commerce, POS, and B2B - long before most people even noticed it.

Many still mistakenly label it as a platform for ”small businesses”, simply because they are used to older systems that evolve slowly. But Shopify moves fast. Whether it is responding to a global crisis or the AI boom, their pace of innovation is unmatched and extremely focused.

The ability to solve tomorrow’s challenges today is exactly why they are leading the way.”

A win for Shopify in a composable era

The recognition is clearly a major advantage for Shopify’s positioning. Many larger companies use the Gartner tools when selecting a new platform, which means Shopify will almost certainly benefit from the visibility.

In recent years, we have generally seen a shift toward composable solutions, where companies build their digital setup from multiple platforms and connect them to work together.

Shopify represents a simpler approach in the sense that the platform is a suite-based solution.

At the same time, Shopify has managed to adapt to the composable trend we are seeing. By opening up the platform and making it easier to integrate with other tools, it has become even more relevant for modern businesses.

This increased flexibility makes Shopify an attractive choice, and today we implement it far more often for complex organisations than we did just two years ago.
