GF Forsikring

From a monolithic CMS to a composable digital foundation

From platform to digital foundation

GF Forsikring faced a business-critical challenge: a monolithic Sitecore solution that limited development speed, flexibility and the ability to meet growing demands for digital self-service. The goal was not simply to replace a CMS. It was to establish a scalable, customer-facing digital foundation with a strong focus on meeting exceptionally high performance requirements.

Results: Proven impact on operations, performance and business outcomes

The new platform has transformed GF’s digital capabilities, both technically and commercially.

    Scalable organisation

Digital self-service reduces the need for manual case handling. Growth no longer requires a corresponding increase in staffing.

    Faster execution

Marketing and editorial teams can launch content and campaigns quickly, without complex development processes. We ensure high performance and a frontend focused on usability and accessibility. At the same time, all forms are integrated directly with the CRM, enabling marketing to work independently without relying on developers or CRM specialists.

    Stability under pressure

The platform is designed for high availability and stable performance, even when many customers need access at the same time. Throughout 2025, uptime was 99.9%, equivalent to less than two hours of downtime over the entire year.

A digital foundation, not just a platform

GF now has a solution that scales with the business, supports continuous innovation and delivers stable, accessible services in a complex and regulated industry. The case demonstrates how strong system design is not only a technical discipline, but a direct driver of business value, customer experience and competitiveness.

At the same time, a third critical focus was integrated:

Accessibility for everyone in Denmark, including people with visual impairments. Not as a compliance exercise, but as a fundamental design decision. The strategy was to rethink the architecture from the ground up and establish a Digital Experience Platform that could balance innovation with operational stability. A platform designed to enable rapid innovation and execution while meeting very high standards for performance, security and accessibility.

We defined three strategic principles:

  • a computer, tablet and phone icon

Composable architecture to reduce dependency on individual platforms.

  • a raising chart icon

Shorter time to market for new digital services

High stability and uptime, even during peak traffic.

Solution: System design built for the real world

We designed and implemented a composable Digital Experience Platform based on a best-of-breed ecosystem of specialised systems.

The architecture has already proven its strength in practice:

GF has launched digital claims reporting without changing the DXP’s core architecture. This means new services can be introduced quickly without compromising stability or adding unnecessary complexity.

The architecture is built around five core principles:

  • a maze icon

    Decoupled architecture

Customer-facing experiences are decoupled from core systems, making the platform more flexible and reducing technical debt.

  • a phone and a setting circle icon

    Headless setup

Functionality and data can be reused across channels. New digital touchpoints can be launched without changes to the backend.

  • a light ball in the box icon

    Graceful degradation

Critical functionality remains available even if parts of the system fail.

  • Thumb up icon

    Governance and security by design

A clear separation between internal systems and customer-facing services ensures compliance and stable operations in a regulated industry.

    Event-driven integrations

The systems respond to events in real time, for example when a customer reports a claim or completes a price calculation. This ensures that data is automatically distributed to the relevant systems without creating direct dependencies. The result is a robust and scalable integration setup that keeps the platform running even if individual systems become unavailable or traffic peaks.
